Meet the patron

H.E. Dorothy Nyong’o
H.E. Dorothy Nyong’o, commonly known as Mama Kisumu, is the First Lady of Kisumu County and the Patron of Kisumu County Cancer Alliance (KCCA).
She is also the Managing Trustee and Co-Founder of Africa Cancer Foundation (ACF), a charitable Trust. She is the Chairperson of the programmes Committee of the County First Ladies Association.
She was the winner of the 2019 Harvard Global Health Catalyst Cancer Advocacy Champion Award.
She has over 30 years of experience in Public Relations and reproductive health. She holds an Executive MSc in Organizational Development from the United States International University (Nairobi), a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communications and a BA Hons (French, Political Science) from the University of Nairobi.
Through the office of The County First Lady, she has been active in cancer programmes, supporting cancer screening in various sub-counties in Kisumu County, in particular and in Kenya, in general. She has been involved in organizing medical camps as well as providing support to cancer patients.
Her vision for the Alliance is to have all the partners currently providing cancer services be they in public, private or research institutions, working together as KCCA, documenting the cancer situation, mapping available service providers within the county, providing a networking forum for consultations and information exchange and developing systemic referral pathways.
